ABOUT MISSISSIPPI MAKERS FEST

MDAH’s Mississippi Makers Fest is a day-long celebration of the state’s rich and diverse music and art. The festival will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, on Entergy Plaza at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson, MS. This free festival will feature Mississippi artisans, live music, make-and-take activities, food trucks, and more.

WHERE IS THE FESTIVAL ENTRANCE?

The Mississippi Makers Fest will have an entrance  on the corner of Amite Street and North Street and on the corner of Mississippi Street and North Street. Parking is available at the Fairgrounds. The parking entrance will be at Gate 3 at the corner of Jefferson Street and the access road by Pearl Street.

To expedite your admission to the festival, please follow the simple instructions of security during the entry process

WHEN DO GATES OPEN? WHEN DO PERFORMANCES END?

The gates open at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 11, 2024. Performances will end around 8 p.m.

FOR YOUR SAFETY

  • If the designated festival grounds reach capacity, MDAH reserves the right to refuse admission.
  • All visitors will go through security. Visitors and bags will be wanded and will be subject to inspection, as determined by security.
  • Photo IDs are required for all alcohol purchases.
  • MDAH and its employees, officers, and sponsors assume no liability for injury sustained by attendees at this event.
  • MDAH reserves the right to refuse admission to or remove any person violating rules; local, state and federal laws; or whose conduct is deemed illegal, disorderly, dangerous or offensive.

  • Firearms, explosives, and weapons of any kind (including pocket knives, pepper spray, mace, fireworks, etc.)
  • Aerosol containers (including sunscreen & personal beauty products)
  • Selfie sticks
  • Drones
  • Outside food or drink
  • Cameras with detachable lenses
  • Professional radios/walkie-talkies
  • Cans, containers, glass bottles, and coolers
  • Laser pointers (or similar devices)
  • Yard games, marker pens, and inflatables
  • Full or oversized umbrellas (small, collapsible umbrellas are permitted)
  • Tents, canopies, or shade structures of any kind
  • Totems, flags, banners, or signs
  • Water guns
  • Thrown objects (baseballs, footballs, Frisbees, etc.)
  • Recording equipment
  • Bikes, rollerblades, hover boards, skates, skateboards, scooters, etc.

IS HANDICAP PARKING AVAILABLE?

Yes, the Two Mississippi Museums visitor’s parking garage will be available for handicap parking. There will also be spaces available at the Fairgrounds.

WILL THERE BE A SHUTTLE SERVICE?

Yes, there will be a shuttle from the Fairgrounds parking lot to the entrance gate.

DO I NEED CASH?

Most purchases can be made with cash or card.

WILL THE TWO MISSISSIPPI MUSEUMS BE OPEN DURING THE FESTIVAL?

Yes, the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission will be free thanks to Nissan.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

Mississippi Makers Fest will be presented rain or shine.

PHOTOGRAPHY NOTICE

Visitors may be photographed or videotaped by MDAH for educational and promotional purposes. Attendance on museum property is implied consent for the use of visitors’ likenesses.
